The Oklahoma Kids' College Savings Campaign is about building assets. The campaign focuses on two critical assets: a college degree and savings.

Having a college degree and savings means:

  • More income

  • Economic self-sufficiency

  • Higher quality-of-life

  • A greater stake in the community and its future

The ability to build and hold assets distinguishes families who are impoverished from those who are economically secure and productive. Children of parents with assets have higher self-self esteem and fewer early pregnancies, save as teenagers, and are more likely to own a home when they are adults.

CFED released the Children's Savings Accounts: A State Policy Sourcebook to

assist state policymakers in developing legislation that creates children's savings accounts.
